The journey of Baba Love

From humble beginnings, an unmistakable call, and a life poured out for the love of Christ — this is his story.

Prophet Olabode Odunayo
Who he is

A prophet shaped by love.

Prophet (Dr) Olabode Odunayo (JP), popularly known as Baba Love (or Babalove), is a Nigerian Pentecostal prophet, pastor, and founder of Love of Christ Global Bible Church — also referred to as Love and Grace Ministry. He serves as General Overseer worldwide, with a justice of the peace (JP) honour and doctoral recognition common among senior Nigerian clergy.

His ministry is recognized for its emphasis on the love of Christ, prophetic declaration, faith, holiness, destiny, and the tangible power of God in worship, teaching, and outreach. The name “Baba Love” arose naturally among spiritual sons and daughters who heard that message week after week.

Ministry & church

Love of Christ Global Bible Church

The ministry maintains its headquarters and a strong presence in Ibadan, Oyo State, with branches across Lagos (including Igbogbo/Ikorodu, Ikotun, and Shangisha), Osun State (including Iwo), Abuja, and other locations — a network of congregations and partners united under the same vision.

Core themes in his ministry include:

  • · The “God of visitation” — expectant faith for divine encounters
  • · Prophetic declarations, signs and wonders, healing, and deliverance
  • · City-wide crusades and revivals (e.g. Ikorodu for Christ, Iwo for Christ, Mapo Hall gatherings)
  • · Vigils, conventions, and programmes often featured on outlets such as Fowokanmi TV
  • · Holy Land pilgrimages (Israel and Jordan) with church delegations
  • · Sermons and teachings shared on YouTube, podcasts (including Apple Podcasts and Spotify), Facebook, Instagram, and partner channels

He is widely described by supporters as a prophet by divine calling, with a focus on love, grace, and the demonstration of God’s power in public services — a blend of prophetic ministry and practical Christian living for breakthrough and endurance until Christ returns.

The journey

From the call to the mantle

Divine call (1987)

Prophet Olabode received a divine call into ministry. Those early years included faithful service as a chorister at Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Agbala Itura, Ibadan — a work associated with Prophet S.K. Abiara — where he testifies to a deep encounter with the Holy Spirit during song ministration.

Love of Christ Global Bible Church (from 1993)

He began Love of Christ Global Bible Church around 1993. The church is also known in ministry circles as Love and Grace Ministry. He often shares that the name came from a physical revelation received during mountain prayer — a moment of clarity, not merely a dream.

Humble beginnings

His early ministry path was marked by extreme financial hardship: years in a single outfit, long seasons before he could afford even basic tools of outreach (including a megaphone), and practical challenges that tested endurance. Those years shaped a tenderness and gratitude still evident in his preaching today.

February 28, 2012 — a defining night

While travelling from Ibadan toward Osun State during a fasting period, his vehicle was struck in a severe collision at Gbongan Junction involving a trailer. The car was crushed. His mother, personal assistant, a church elder, and others — nine lives in all — were lost. He was taken to University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, as the sole survivor among those admitted to intensive care, with serious fractures and months of recovery ahead. He credits God for preservation in the face of medical uncertainty, and has spoken openly about grief, trauma, and the long road of healing — including time abroad — while rejecting rumours of fetish involvement and pointing always to Christ.

Recovery, family & onward

Through those years his wife, Oluwafunke (Funke) Odunayo, stood with him in faith and practical support. He has also spoken about selling vehicles and reinvesting in ministry, including televangelism, as the work grew. Around early 2026 he marked his 60th birthday with thanksgiving alongside family, church, and well-wishers — a milestone celebrated with gratitude rather than entitlement.

Today — a global house

What began in obscurity has matured into a ministry known for prophetic declaration, teaching, healing, deliverance, and crusades across Nigeria and beyond — with daily broadcast, television, conventions, and a growing digital footprint carrying the same message: the love of Christ, demonstrated in power.

Family

A home built on the love of Christ

Baba Love is married to Oluwafunke (Funke) Odunayo. He has spoken gratefully of her faithfulness — especially through seasons of intense trial and recovery — and often presents their union as part of the same message he preaches: covenant love, honour, and endurance in God.

Together they are blessed with children and with countless spiritual sons and daughters raised across the ministry.

Testimony, scrutiny & truth

Supporters regard Prophet Odunayo as a man of God marked by prophetic boldness, impactful declarations, and teachings that encourage faith, holiness, and possession of God-given promises. His style includes strong prophetic words against evil and for blessing, always anchored in scripture and the lordship of Christ.

Like many public ministers, he has faced questions from detractors. In 2010, reports noted his denial of accusations related to occult practices — a stance he maintained as an Ibadan-based leader accountable both to his congregation and to the wider public. Following the 2012 tragedy, some circulated unfounded rumours; he addressed these by pointing to God’s power and to his public, decades-long ministry rather than to secrecy or fetishism.
